Giovanni Montanaro

Giovanni Montanaro was borne in 1972 in Foggia; he completed his studies in Bologna, his town of adoption.
He is an eclectic and versatile musician, committed with all genres of music (not only the classic one); firstly, he graduated with honours at the Bologna conservatory; the subjects were piano, electronic and jazz music. He, then, graduated in Ferrara in choral music and choral conduction; he got his degree on merit as orchestra conductor at completion of the specialization courses in Conegliano Veneto (Treviso) and his degree as lyric opera conductor at the Regia Accademia Filarmonica in Bologna. In the meantime, he has been attending various refresher and specialization courses of orchestra and chorus conduction and has been studying composition, while continuing his studies at the university – DAMS [Disciplines of Art, Music and Performing] course – in Bologna, where he got his degree in musicology. He is currently attending the courses for orchestra conductor at the conservatory in Parma.
Since 1998 he has been acting as art and music director of the Dei Verbum Chorus, polyphonic choir set up in the province of Bologna. Giovanni Montanaro was awarded the 2nd prize of the International Piano Award held in 1986 in Stresa (Maggiore Lake); he has performed, and is still performing, an intense concert activity, both in Italy and abroad, above all as chamber musician, accompanist for singers, composer and orchestra and choir conductor, matching these activities with the commitment as teacher in several musical schools in Bologna and its province.
